It selectively activates tissue-protective pathways without engaging the classic homodimeric erythropoietin receptor (EPOR2) responsible for hematopoiesis and thrombogenesis. In neurobiology, immunology, and peripheral neuropathy research, it serves as a primary reference model for investigating axonal repair and cytoprotective mechanisms:
